Hans Groenewegen (1957-2013) wilde onder de titel blijven & verreizen allerlei gedichten dag na dag laten lopen over de periode van een jaar en sommige voorzien van eigen comments. Zo'n drie maanden verwijderd van het einde, werd hij ziek. Resterend materiaal legde hij voor aan collega-dichters, over wier werk hij veelal zelf had geschreven; hij vroeg nu hun comments op zijn eigen werk. Deze reacties van collega-dichters zijn vastgelegd op de cd-rom die achter in deze bundel is bevestigd. De dichterlijke comments kunnen een draaischijf voor de inspiratie zijn.

Genummerd, gesigneerd en gedrukt in beperkte oplage bij Halverwege Chapbooks. winterreis is een even strak gecomponeerd als intuïtief gedicht over het verstrijken van de tijd, en over alle onvermijdelijkheid die daarmee geassocieerd kan worden. Geerts' gevoel voor ritme is ongeëvenaard, en de tedere ongrijpbaarheid van zijn nooit eindigende zinnen, wier grammatica voortdurend veranderen, is aangrijpend.

Elisabeth Eybers (1915–2007) was de eerste vrouw die in Zuid-Afrika de prestigieuze Hertzog Prijs won, in 1943, voor haar bundels Die stil avontuur en Belydenis in die skemering. In 1961 en in 1971 won ze de prijs eveneens. 

Eybers woonde sinds 1961 in Nederland. Van Oorschot gaf twee bundels van haar uit. In Nederland werd haar werk evenzeer bewonderd. Vaak tot haar eigen verbazing deed het Nederlandse publiek speciale moeite om zich deze poëzie in een andere taal – Eybers bleef in het Afrikaans schrijven – toch eigen te maken. In 1978 ontving ze de Constantijn Huygensprijs, en in 1991 de P.C. Hooftprijs, beide voor haar gehele oeuvre. 

De arts Felix Oestreicher was gevangene in Westerbork en Bergen Belsen van 1943 tot 1945. In het kamp hield hij een medisch en zakelijk dagboek bij. Daarin staan ook gedichten. Kort na de bevrijding stierf Oestreicher in Tröbitz aan de gevolgen van vlektyfus. De gedichten uit het dagboek worden in Nachher/Naderhand voor het eerst met de Nederlandse vertaling ernaast gepubliceerd. Helly Oestreicher, beeldend kunstenaar en dochter van Felix Oestreicher, maakte bij elk gedicht een collage, opgebouwd uit het handschrift van haar vader en familiefoto’s uit de nalatenschap.
